Chinatown Service Center (CSC) Overview

In 1971, the Chinese Methodist Church embarked on a mission to support newly arrived Chinese immigrants, laying the foundation for what we are today. The Chinatown Service Center (CSC) is a nonprofit organization providing multilingual health and social services, employment training, and counseling in Greater Los Angeles. CSC'S Behavioral Health Department contributes to the Mission and Vision by :

Providing outstanding mental health and substance use services to vulnerable populations, Championing advocacy and promoting positive life outcomes, and Embracing cultural competency and diversity.

CSC'S Behavioral Health ’s Psychiatrist Purpose:

Providing medical and psychosocial evaluation, developing and implementing treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications, monitoring and evaluating treatment results of assigned client.

As a Behavioral Health Psychiatrist at CSC , You will be responsible for :

  • Evaluates clients by interviewing client, family, and other persons, conducting physical examinations, observing behaviors, reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
  • Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
  • Treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress towards goals with clients; providing instructions; monitoring effect of medications.
  • Maintain interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
  • Complies with agency productivity standards and maintains an appropriate caseload to reach the weekly expectation of client contact and budgeted hours.
  • Continually assess the needs and symptoms of clients and families formulating psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate method(s) of providing treatment/evidence based practice.
  • Maintain a client file to level of requirements mandated in agency policy and completes documentation in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required CA Medical License in Good standing, CA DEA, Board Certified. Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment.
  • Experience working with dual diagnosed/co-occurring patients with both a substance use disorder and a mental illness.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of social, cultural, and intergenerational dynamics of Asian immigrants and refugees.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Successfully meet the post-offer/pre-hire physical and DMV Driving Record Search requirements and receive an eligibility status for Level II Background Check required by the State of California.
